with Monica Dengo
It seems only fitting to hold a workshop to experience a fusion of these two calligraphic traditions in the city where Marco Polo ventured forth to explore the east. After a two-year hiatus, Monica and Kaz come together again to create this life-altering inspirational workshop.
Books by Hand is a calligraphy and bookbinding workshop held in Arezzo, a medieval art city in Tuscany, near Florence. Students study in Monica Dengo’s studio, at the Public Library and State Archive, all located in the city center.
The 7th calligraphy course, held at the Museo Correr and Historic Library of the Museo Correr, will be a double offering this year: every participant can choose to attend one or both workshops:
Monica Dengo and Satsuki Hatsushima are organizing a week long calligraphic event in Karatsu, Kyushu Island, located near Fukuoka, in the South of Japan. The workshop will be an immersion into Japanese calligraphic and design culture.
This course, aimed at opening an exchange with Eastern calligraphy, the Sho-Do, offers elements that can establish connections between two extremely different calligraphic cultures. With Me and Norio Nagaiama.
